LUTEN

Nestled within the serene natural landscapes immortalized by Taketa City’s literary figure Tanomura Chikuden, there stands a humble hermitage—a place that evokes the essence of the artist himself. Inspired by the landscapes depicted in his paintings, I embarked on journeys through untouched mountains and valleys, eventually discovering a breathtaking valley cradled within the mountains, where a divine presence seemed to reside. With the blessing of the shrine’s priest, guardian of the sacred mountain, I gathered driftwood, fallen trees, and aged lumber to quietly erect the hermitage. Crafted by a calligrapher descended from Kusakari Shoukoku, a cherished disciple of Tanomura Chikuden, this hermitage stands as a testament to quiet reverence. “LUTEN,” a project under ‘FUJIHAKU®,’ is an artistic endeavor that harmonizes people with landscapes, connecting past and present through its thoughtful construction.
