東京に暮らしていると、街の一角が突如消えてしまい、以前の風景を全く思い出せない事がよくある。そして次にそこを通る時にはまた新たな未知なる風景に出くわす。都市の風景はその繰り返しで出来ている。この土地も度重なる変遷を経ての今回の開発である。3６0年前に建っていた武家屋敷と60年前の建築の平面図を原寸大で重ね、そこにそれぞれの時代の写真や情報を掘り込んだ。その上に重ねられる今回の開発は、未来に何を残すことが出来るのだろうか。私達は連綿と続く歴史軸のたった一点に立っているに過ぎない事を忘れてはならない。

Living in Tokyo, it’s common to witness corners of the city suddenly vanish, erasing previous scenes from memory. Upon returning to such areas, new, unfamiliar landscapes often greet us. Urban environments are characterized by these constant cycles of change. This particular site has undergone its own series of transformations. Here, 360-year-old samurai residences coexist in full scale with 60-year-old architectural plans, meticulously integrated with photographs and information spanning each period. What legacy will this new development leave for the future? It’s crucial to remember that we stand at just one point along an unbroken historical continuum.
