空港の手荷物受取所に大分の豊かな海の風景を表現すべく、魚拓を県民から募集し、釣人の名前、場所・魚種・大きさ・重さなどの情報と共に天井にプリントした。床は関サバ関アジで有名な豊後水道の潮の流れの速さをラインで表現した。青は色彩心理学的に手荷物を待つ時間を短く感じさせる色で、リラックス効果も考慮した。

In the baggage claim area of Oita Airport, the rich seascape of Oita is vividly portrayed. Local residents were invited to contribute fish prints, which now adorn the ceiling alongside details such as the fisherman’s name, location, species, size, and weight of the catch. The floor is embellished with lines representing the swift currents of the Bungo Channel, renowned for its Sekisaba (mackerel) and Sekiaji (horse mackerel). The color scheme features calming shades of blue, chosen for its ability to create a sense of time passing quickly and induce relaxation during the wait for baggage retrieval.

Oita Airport Rooftop Transfer Deck

大分の魅力的な自然の風景からインスピレーションを受けデザインを展開。六郷満山を抱く山々のように高低差のあるウッドデッキと多様な植栽の構成により送迎だけでなく、景色や食事を楽しめる新たな憩いの空間を作り出した。空港ならではのピクトグラムやサイングラフィックは黒潮の大海原のように深い青と太陽のように輝く黄色い色彩で壁面に施し、送迎デッキへと導きながら期待感を一層高める。滑走路に近づくことのできるカメラスポット、子供を遊ばせたり寝そべったりリラックスした時を過ごせる芝生広場を設けた。夜間はライン状に光が浮かび上がり、滑走路の光と相俟って昼間とは一変した幻想的な空間となる。この場所が大分の景色を背景に出会いや別れといった様々なドラマの舞台となることを目指した。

The design is inspired by Oita’s attractive natural scenery. With a wooden deck that has height differences like the mountains that embrace Rokugo Manzan and a variety of plantings, we have created a new relaxing space where you can not only use transportation, but also enjoy the scenery and meals. Pictograms and sign graphics unique to an airport are painted on the walls in deep blue like the Kuroshio Current and yellow like the sun, further heightening the sense of anticipation as they lead the way to the shuttle deck. We have set up a camera spot where you can get close to the runway, and a lawn area where you can let your children play, lie down, and relax. At night, a line of light appears, and together with the light from the runway, it creates a fantastical space that is completely different from the daytime. The aim was for this place to be the setting for various dramas such as encounters and farewells, with the scenery of Oita in the background.
